Reliance Logistics Park To Boost Business, Create Jobs In Tamil Nadu- Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been awarded the work to develop the first multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) at Mappedu in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways said in a statement on Friday.
The MMLP will be developed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis and will be equipped with facilities for handling different types of cargo. It will also have a dedicated rail terminal and a container freight station.
This is in line with the government’s goal to promote multimodal transportation of goods and reduce logistics costs. RIL’s experience in developing similar infrastructure projects will be invaluable in setting up the MMLP.
The park will have dedicated facilities for container handling, warehousing, and inland container depot (ICD)/container freight station (CFS). It will also have a common user terminal with break bulk and general cargo handling facilities.
The SPV will provide 4 lane NH connectivity of 5.4 Km with estimated cost of ₹104 Crore and new rail siding to the MMLP site of length ~10.5 Km with estimated cost of ₹217 Crore,” the ministry said in a statement.
