After many delays, NASA is finally launching its Artemis mission to the moon. This mission will test critical systems aboard the Orion crewed spacecraft. The mission will be the first of a series of planned missions that will send humans to the moon. The mission will also make history by putting the first person of color and woman on the Moon.
“I’m telling you, we’ve never seen such a tail of flame,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, who followed the launch with a group of astronauts.
The first crewed flight in the Artemis program will fly the Orion module to the far side of the Moon and perform a lunar flyby. The mission is expected to last for eight to 10 days and collect valuable flight test data. The mission will also enable NASA to study the impact of space radiation on human body systems.
The Artemis mission has been delayed by several factors, including Hurricane Nicole and technical issues. Though the mission isn’t carrying astronauts, it’s testing the equipment needed for future crewed missions to the moon. It is scheduled to crash into the ocean on December 11. However, there are still some problems that could prevent the mission from going ahead.
The Space Launch System is the most powerful rocket ever built by NASA. It has a thrust of eight million pounds and is 322 feet tall. The SLS rocket will carry astronauts into space and is the world’s largest rocket. It’s estimated to cost around $800 million per launch. The SLS rocket is expected to be used in future deep space missions and is expected to be the most powerful rocket in the world. This rocket has been in development for more than a decade and has been delayed many times.
