Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhaghawat in Prayagraj today has been described as a ‘historic’ event. The two leaders met each other for about an hour and discussed issues related to the state. The two leaders also had lunch together after which Yogi Adityanath returned to his residence. Both leaders discussed the population issue. The Chief Minister also invited the RSS chief for Deepotsav at Ayodyha on October.
On Tuesday, RSS leader Dattatreya hosabale had said religious conversion and migration of people from Bangladesh were responsible for population imbalance and called for strict implementation and enforcement of anti-conversion law. He also demanded that those violating the two-child policy should not be allowed to contest elections.
The Uttar Pradesh state law commission had last year submitted a draft population control bill to the Chief Minister. It recommended additional incentives to government employees for adopting the one child norm and ban those who violate the two child policy from contesting local body polls.
However, no further action was taken. Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasadsaid whatever issue the RSS raises will always be in the interest of the country and added its concern over the population problem would get support from the nation.
In his meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhartiya, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogiji Adityanath has asked him to take up the issue of population control with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also invited Bhagwat to attend the Deepotsav festival being organised at Ayodhya next month.
