Gunshots were reported near the England team hotel in Pakistan’s Multan: As the England cricket team is set to take on Pakistan in the second Test match at Multan, a report of gunshots was heard early Thursday morning near the team hotel. The incident was allegedly between two gangs and nobody was injured.
Other reports said that there was heavy security presence whenever foreign teams visit Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board hopes things will go smoothly because international cricket has only been played in their country for the last two years, and any security threats could jeopardize their plan to host home bilateral series.
This is coming at a time when the PCB has been protesting after they found out that the Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan next year.
Pakistan have been awarded the rights to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
While Pakistan wasn’t at their best in the first Test of a five-match series, England holds bragging rights after claiming a 74-run victory. That score came courtesy of a spirited declaration from captain Ben Stokes, which looked to have won him the game.
The loss left Pakistan with no chance of making it to the final for the World Test Championship next year.
