Gautam Adani’s Mega Port Project: The Adani Group’s much-touted mega port project in Gujarat is in trouble, with a local fishing community protesting against it. The fishermen say that the port will destroy their livelihoods, and they have been staging demonstrations against it for several months.
The state government has so far refused to give in to their demands, but the protests are continuing. It remains to be seen whether the Adani Group will be able to push through with its plans or not.
The Adani conglomerate plans to send heavy vehicles to the port on Friday after the court this week said vehicle movement should not be blocked. This comes as a relief to the company which had been facing difficulties in transporting goods to the port due to protests by activists.
The court’s ruling is a victory for the Adani group, which has been striving to get the project up and running despite strong opposition. The company is hopeful that this will help it clear the final hurdles and begin operations at the port soon.
