Congress Seeking Resignations From Maharashtra BJP MLAs: The Congress party in Maharashtra is demanding the resignation of all BJP MLAs and MPs in the state, accusing them of insulting the Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj.
Congress president Nana Patole made the demand Thursday, after the governor last month referred to Shivaji Maharaj as a symbol of the “olden days”.
Patole accused the BJP of deliberately disrespecting Shivaji Maharaj and said that their actions had hurt the sentiments of the Maratha community. He called on the party to take immediate action and resign from their positions in order to save Maharashtra’s “honor and pride”.
