S Jaishankar After Talks In Russia: S Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, is in Moscow for talks with his Russian counterpart. The two countries are discussing the overall global situation amid the war in Ukraine as well as specific regional concerns. India is buying oil from Russia amid the war in Ukraine, much to the chagrin of the West, which has severed trade ties with Russia.
Mr Jaishankar’s Moscow visit with a huge delegation across economic ministries indicates India and Russia will expand trade in a big way. “This is not an era of war,” Mr Jaishankar said in an interview with Russian news agency TASS. “We live in a world where different civilizations are interacting with each other.” The Indian minister also said that his country was “open to cooperating” with Russia on the issue of terrorism.
The Minister of External Affairs of India, S Jaishankar, is visiting Moscow this week to discuss economic cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Jaishankar said that India will keep buying oil from Russia because it is an affordable source of energy.
His Moscow visit with a huge delegation across economic ministries indicates that India and Russia will expand trade. By helping to prop up Russia economically, India appears to be doing its part to ensure that Russia has an economic lifeline and is not pushed into a corner as it is presently.
