Ponniyin Selvan-2 Release Date Announced- Maverick film-maker Mani Ratnam is all set to release the much-awaited sequel to his hit film Ponniyin Selvan. Titled Ponniyin Selvan-2, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on April 20, 2023.

Maverick film-maker Mani Ratnam created waves at the box-office with his ‘Ponniyin Selvan -1’. The film starring an ensemble cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi and Jayam Ravi, went on to gross around Rs 500 crore at the box-office worldwide. Fans have hailed the film as an apt adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s eponymous novel 1955.

The epic historical-drama follows the story of Vallavarayan Vandiyathevan, a young chieftain in Pudhukottai during the Chola dynasty, who is entrusted with a mission to stop the crown prince from being crowned as the next emperor.

Now, the much-awaited sequel to this blockbuster is all set to hit theatres on this date, reveals distributor Udhayanidhi Stalin. ‘Ponniyin Selvan-2’ will see Vikram reprising his role as Vandiyathevan, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan and Jayam Ravi will also be back in.
