New Prison In Mumbai: The Maharashtra government is planning to set up seven new police stations and a new prison in Mumbai, according to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Indian Prime Minister, Modi discussed the necessity of new jails in Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune during a meeting on Tuesday. Afterward, Fadnavis tweeted about what was said.
At this time, there is only one Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.
We expect the best quality work within a specified time frame, Chief Minister Fadnavis reminded.
He assured the public that there will not be a shortage of funds from the government for police housing.
Addressing the press, Chief Minister Fadnavis said there was also a discussion on expediting the redevelopment project of police housing in Worli area of Mumbai.
Fifteen new projects of police stations and homes are almost done, and ten more will be ready by June.
“There are 457 police housing projects in Maharashtra with 53,860 houses constructed for police personnel,” Fadnavis tweeted. “87 new police stations have been planned throughout the state, including seven new ones in Mumbai.”
He directed the officials to prioritize the most urgent tasks first. They should work quickly and finish those projects. Then, they should progress to less urgent tasks.
“Whenever feasible, police housing should be built near the police station. Space utilization needs to be prioritized when designing a plan,” deputy chief minister said.
