Kerala High Court to Governor: The Kerala High Court has asked the state’s Governor not to take any action against 11 university vice-chancellors who have been given show-cause notices by the Governor. The court has given the Chancellor three more days to file a reply and has scheduled a hearing for November 17.
The High Court’s order came in response to a petition filed by the Kerala University Vice-Chancellors’ Association challenging the show-cause notices issued by the Governor.
In its order, the court said that the show-cause notices were “premature and unwarranted” and that the Chancellor should be given an opportunity to explain his position. The court also directed the Registrar General of Universities to submit a report on the status of each of the universities.
The 11 vice-chancellors who have been served show-cause notices are from Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Calicut University, Kannur University, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Thiruvananthapuram Central University, Kerala Agricultural University, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala Forest Research Institute, and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
