Imran Khan Claims He Knew of Attempted Assassination

Imran Khan survived an attempt on his life when he addressed the nation for the first time since the attack. Imran Khan has claimed that he was aware of the plot against his life before it happened.

“I know I am going to be assassinated,” Mr Khan told reporters at his residence here.

By the attackers during their rally in the Wazira Bad area of Pakistan’s Punjab Province, Imran Khan, who was wounded in his right leg, spoke to the nation on Friday from the city’s Liaquat University Medical Centre.

He told us he would explain the details of the plot later. But we knew about it the night before. He had been shot four times.

“I was surrounded by four men who were planning my assassination. They had a plan for me but I managed to record them. If they did something to me, then I would release their videos.”

On Friday, PTI supporters protested in several Pakistani cities against the killing of their leader Imran Khan. Imran Khan led a march to the country’s federal parliament in Islamabad to pressure the government into holding an early general election. Imran Khan’s government was ousted from office earlier this month following its failure to hold parliamentary elections by December 2018.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani Interior Ministry has asked the province of Punjab to form a high-level JIT to investigate the case.

So far, three people have been taken into custody for their involvement in the assassination attempt against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan. One of them has already confessed his role in the crime.

They’ve also caught two more people, who they think were involved in selling the gun and ammunition for Rs 20,000.
