Former AAP Leader’s Bail Plea Rejected In Delhi Riots Case 2020: The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Tahir Hussain in a case related to the riots that broke out in the national capital in February this year.
Hussain had sought bail on the grounds that he was a peaceful person and had no criminal record.
However, the court observed that witnesses who had deposed regarding Hussain’s role in the case would be “under tremendous pressure and threat” if he was granted bail.
The court also noted that there was prima facie evidence against Hussain and that he had been named in multiple FIRs.
It said that Hussain’s bail plea would be considered after charges are framed against him. Hussain is accused of leading a mob that attacked a police station during the riots. He has also been charged with rioting, murder and attempt to murder.
