2020 Delhi riots: The Delhi Court today acquitted four men who were accused of rioting and torching vehicles at a parking lot in Kardam Puri.The court was hearing the case against Shahrukh, Ashu, Zuber and Ashwani, who were accused of being a part of a riotous mob that set ablaze tractors and hand carts and ransacked school buses at the parking lot on February 25, 2020.
However, the court observed that there was no evidence to substantiate the charges against the accused and hence, they were acquitted.
The Jyoti Nagar police station had filed a chargesheet against the accused under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including those related to rioting, armed with deadly weapon, unlawful assembly and mischief by fire or explosive substance with an intent to destroy houses etc. However, the Court found that there was insufficient evidence to convict the accused and therefore acquitted them.
